Feature: The Worthouse Story — How Deane and Wiecek Became Drifting's Greatest Rivalry

Two drivers, one team, five combined championships. The Worthouse story is one of sport's most extraordinary tales of competition and camaraderie.

There are rivalries in sport. And then there is Deane versus Wiecek.

In any other context, placing two drivers of this calibre on the same team in identical cars would seem like a recipe for disaster. The politics. The politics. The egos. In motorsport history, it has rarely ended well.

At Worthouse, somehow, it has produced something extraordinary.

The Beginning

James Deane joined Worthouse in 2017, already an established European champion. Piotr Wiecek followed two years later, a young Polish talent with explosive raw speed but a tendency to push too hard at critical moments.

Their early relationship was professional but competitive. Both men understood that identical equipment meant results would be determined by skill alone — and both men believed, entirely sincerely, that they were the better driver.

The Championships

Between 2017 and 2025, Worthouse has accumulated five championships between them — four for Deane, one for Wiecek. The numbers suggest Deane's dominance, but the reality is closer than that. Wiecek's 2023 title was claimed in a final-round showdown that went to the last lap, and 2026 sees the Pole leading the Drift Masters standings for the first time mid-season.

The Battles

Ask any drift fan about Deane-Wiecek battles and watch their eyes light up. The famous 2022 Spa final, where the two ran door-to-door for the entire 200-metre course, is frequently cited as the greatest single drift battle ever recorded.

What Next?

With Wiecek currently leading Deane in Drift Masters 2026, the tables may be turning. The pupil, some say, is becoming the master. Watch Round 5 at Silverstone very carefully.
