The Formula DRIFT circus rolls into Orlando, Florida, for Round 2 at the Citrus Bowl on May 10th. The championship is already electric after Conor Shanahan's debut victory at Long Beach — the young Irishman leads with 100 points, ahead of Chelsea DeNofa (88) and Fredric Aasbø (76).
DeNofa's Response
The RTR Mustang driver has always responded well to adversity. A Long Beach runner-up finish is not how he wanted to start the season, but three previous Orlando victories suggest he knows this circuit well. If anyone can neutralise Shanahan's momentum, it's DeNofa.
Shanahan Under Pressure
The challenge for any rookie winning in round one is backing it up. Orlando's wall-lined course is unforgiving, and the pressure of carrying the championship lead adds another layer of complexity. How Shanahan handles this moment will tell us a lot about his title credentials.
Aasbø's Threat
Third in the standings and three-time champion — Fredric Aasbø is never far from the front when the championship tightens. His Toyota GR Supra has been consistently quick, and Aasbø's experience in tight battles gives him an edge when the rounds get shorter.
Verdict: Expect DeNofa to bounce back. But don't rule out Shanahan making it two from two.
